Blog against abuse – September 27, 2007

hermie

Blog against abuse. I haven’t been up to much blogging the past few months, so I have no idea who might even see this post. If you’re reading it and you’re a blogger, this seems like a good way to get some more attention on the abuses we’re constantly fighting.

On September 27th, join 1,000s of bloggers around the world in BlogCatalog’s Blogging for a Great Cause Challenge.

This Blogging Challenge will be:

Bloggers Against Abuse
September 27th, 2007

The Outcome we are after is to be part of the largest group of bloggers to ever blog about an important cause, all on the same day.

So how do you participate?

On Sept. 27th, blog about putting an end to some sort of Abuse (you decide what kind of abuse to blog about).

In the meantime though,

* Spread the word among all the bloggers you know. Perhaps even give them a link to this Discussion.

* If you are a graphic’s designer, perhaps you can come up with some small badges announcing the event, that we can then place on our blogs. To share the badge, place it on this thread.

* List any organizations, on this thread, who are involved in putting an end to abuse.

What do you get?

You will receive a link to your Blog Post from the Blogcatalog blog when we list everyone who participated.

You get to use your blog for an important cause.

You get to create blogging history.

If you join in, I’d love to hear about it, so leave a quick comment to make sure I know to read your post. I’m going to try to join in, maybe it will help get me out of my posting slump!

Thanks for posting this information since I hadn’t heard about it. I just posted a blog about this event and PETA2’s upcoming “Hug A Vegetarian” Day, so hopefully more folks will take part. Now I just hope I remember to take part myself! šŸ˜‰

Excellent! You’re in my reader, and I look forward to reading your post! I have the same worry about forgetting though. Hopefully between the two of us, we’ll remember! šŸ˜€

Hi there! I put the rules on my blog and linked to you (and obviously tomorrow I’ll blog and send you the link). Is that what I was supposed to do?

Mary, yes, that’s exactly it. I think we’re supposed to submit our blog post via comment on the blog catalog site, but you have to sign up first, which I hadn’t realized until tonight. Might be worth emailing them in the meantime, because I am not sure how long it will all take, and maybe our posts will be included if we let them know via email, even if we can’t comment in time.

Sorry, I found out at the last minute about this, or I’d have been more prepared!

It only takes a few hours for a blog to be evaluated and listed at the blogcatalog site. At least that’s all it took in my case. It’s worth the “trouble” (only takes a couple of minutes) and you get to have more exposure to your blog.

After your blog is accepted, you receive an email to inform you, and you can then post the link to your blog post in the Blog against abuse page.

Kenneth, you were right. By the time I checked this morning my account with BlogCatalog had been activated. The initial (automated) email had said it could take up to 48 hours which is why I wasn’t sure it would come through in time.

RecycleCindy, Thanks for blogging about the abuse. Some great info in your post!

Perry, thanks to you too for blogging about abuse. You also featured what looks like a great organization, and also one I hadn’t heard of before. Adorable picture as well!
